Dance Talks
Dance Talks is a dynamic conversation series bringing together Asian diaspora dance artists to dive into the ideas, questions, and creative practices shaping their work today. Designed to feel intimate, open, and engaging, these gatherings prioritize real conversation over formal lectures or panels.
Using a Fishbowl inspired format, artists begin the dialogue while the audience listens in — then, halfway through, the circle opens and the public is invited to join the conversation. Whether you’re a dancer, artist, or curious listener, Dance Talks offers a vibrant space to connect, exchange perspectives, and be part of the dialogue.
Dance Talks may be utilized as a parallel event to a show/production (a more in-depth conversation than a post-show talk with the artists and guests that goes beyond the presentation), or a stand-alone event.
We aim to hold these events outside of performance spaces that are both welcoming and accessible, such as public Libraries. Beyond engaging with the general public and inspiring new dance audiences, the events will foster dialogue among Asian diasporic dance artists and encourage the exploration of differences, commonalities and candid perspectives. Some conversations may have facilitators to help hold space and support the conversation.
